Tell us a little about Wellmark Inc. For nearly 80 years, Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield has protected the health of generations of Iowans. We have more than 1,700 employees in Iowa that work to serve more than 1.4 million members.

Tell us a little about Wellmark Inc. For nearly 80 years, Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield has protected the health of generations of Iowans. We have more than 1,700 employees in Iowa that work to serve more than 1.4 million members.
What is an interesting fact about your company?
As a mutual insurance company, we are owned by our members. That designation makes us different than other companies who are solely accountable to investors. We work hard to carefully manage costs, provide exceptional customer service and empower our members to stay healthy. We carry that support into the communities we serve through the Wellmark Foundation – an organization that provides grants and funding to support well-being in communities throughout Iowa and South Dakota.
Why is your company a member of ITA?
As Iowa’s largest health care insurer, tax policy is extremely important to us. ITA provides us the ability to stay connected with up-to-date information on relevant tax policy legislation. It also allows for us to hear other perspectives from within the Iowa tax community.
